St Andrew’s Hospice, Grimsby
St Andrew’s Hospice’s twenty year old premises were in need of updating and additional adult bedrooms required. The project was to rationalise the accommodation across the existing site to enable the Hospice to continue to meet the growing needs of the community. A new building housing twelve modern adult bedrooms, a service block, entrance/reception/dining area and a Day Therapy unit was constructed as the first phase on the limited site whilst the hospice continued to operate normally.
Other Health Projects
St Andrew’s Hospice in Grimsby provides care to patients with life limiting illnesses for adults from North East Lincolnshire and surrounding areas and for children from the whole of Lincolnshire, Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. The existing premises included eight adult bedrooms, a four bedroom Children’s unit and Day Therapy provision.
Their existing twenty year old adult bedroom, day therapy and reception premises no longer met modern standards and demand to use the facilities was above the available capacity.
Thornton-Firkin were appointed to act as Employers Agent and Cost Consultant for this demanding two phase design and build project.
Following completion of the one year £5M 1st Phase, the 2nd Phase has commenced which will construct a Health & Well Being building on the position of part of the former main building, the remaining part of the building being remodelled. Some alteration works within the Children’s Unit are also required.
