For 15 years Thornton-Firkin has been successfully assisting the University of Lincoln with the fast track development of the newest purpose built higher education campus in the UK. Redundant industrial land in the heart of the City of Lincoln has been comprehensively redeveloped to form a £150 million state-of-the-art award winning University campus providing first class academic facilities.

Thornton-Firkin has acted as Employer’s Representative, Employer’s Agent, Cost Consultant and CMD Co-ordinator to the University of Lincoln on many projects including the development of various Student Accommodation facilities, the Main Academic Building, LRC, Sports Centre, Science Facility, School of Architecture, Library, Student Union, Performing Arts Centre, Law & Business School and Art and Design buildings.

The most recent University of Lincoln project on which Thornton-Firkin has acted as Employer’s Agent and Cost Consultant is the new Engineering Hub on the Brayford Pool Lincoln campus. A joint venture between the University and Siemens the stunning new £6 million building was designed by Allies and Morrison and was completed in time for the new academic year.

Combining Reaserach & Development and teaching facilities, the building makes an iconic statement about the status and intent of Engineering at the University of Lincoln. It is the University’s aim to produce Engineering graduates who have the skills and knowledge to be industry ready. The new facility forms part of the greater campus development and takes its place in a truly 21st Century University environment committed to teaching and research.
