Higher and Further Education From multi million pound new build campus’s to cyclical refurbishment works we have formed close partnerships with a number of Higher and Further Education providers which has enabled us to provide both external consultancy and in house estate management services. We have also assisted clients in establishing public sector procurement procedures, preparing building condition surveys and writing public sector funding applications for major building projects.

University of Nottingham The Ingenuity Centre
The University of Nottingham’s Ingenuity Centre is a new technology business incubator facility located in one of only four UK University enterprise zones. The unique circular three-storey building is part BIS funded and provides 2000m2 of cutting edge innovative workspace accommodation. With convex elevations fully shrouded in bespoke bronze aerofoil brise soleil fins, bold internal layouts and a unique circular central atrium Ideas Space the development is iconic and visually stunning.

University of Lincoln Cygnet Wharf Student Accommodation
The new student accommodation is a valuable addition to the main University Campus and provides a big contribution to the City by providing much needed on campus undergraduate accommodation for incoming students and freeing up inner city housing for residents. The scheme provides 442 cluster ensuite bedrooms for undergraduates, in three separate buildings, set out in 44 cluster flats of varying sizes, but primarily 10 and 12 bedrooms.

iMET (Innovation Manufacturing Engineering Technology) will deliver technical, advanced and higher vocational skills training in Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology to regional industry by providing specialist equipment in a modern environment within a facility that boasts excellent transport links. University of Lincoln Sarah Swift Building
The University invested £19m to create the new Sarah Swift Building for the College of Social Sciences. This will provide a new home for the Schools of Health and Social Care and Psychology and the Professional Development Centre which provides ongoing training for medical professionals within Lincolnshire. The new building is named after Dame Sarah Swift GBE RRC, nurse and founder of the College of Nursing (now the Royal College of Nursing), born in Kirton Skeldyke, South Lincolnshire.

Bishop Burton College Riseholme College Campus
Thornton-Firkin have provided Employer’s Agent, Cost Consultant and CDM Services to Bishop Burton College on it’s new state of the art Riseholme College Showground Campus in Lincoln. The £25 million project opened it’s doors in September 2015 and is the first stand alone agricultural based campus developed in the UK for decades.
