Perryfields Road, Phase 2

Following the completion of Phase 1 in 2012, this second phase of development comprised the design and construction of 30 no. high quality, affordable residential accommodation, comprising a mixture of 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and 2 and 3 bedroom houses. This was in close consultation with BDHT, Worcestershire County Council and Bromsgrove District Council. The site was previously an open land of cropped fields, bounded by allotments.

Thornton-Firkin were appointed to undertake the Employer’s Agent, Principal Designer and Clerk of Works roles.

As a modern and contemporary design, the architecture, features and materials were chosen to respect and compliment those relating to the Phase 1 development as well as long-standing residential properties. A mixture of wide and narrow frontages together with 2, 2.5 and 3 storey dwellings help to create a vibrant and animated street frontage and a variation in eaves lines and massing.

As part of the development, a new access road was constructed to adoptable standards under a Section 38 / 278 Agreement. The development also incorporated a fully sustainable drainage system.

The scheme achieved Secure By Design certification, Lifetime Homes requirements and Code for Sustainable Homes level 3. The site is ideally located with good access to local shops as well as transport links straight into Bromsgrove town centre. Close to the development, the residents can make use of the public open space as well as the recreational facilities which are suitable for children of all ages.
