Selangor Court, Wellington College
Selangor Court is a glazed steel and cast iron canopy structure providing a sheltered walkway between the main school Dining Hall and the pupils’ cafe within the centre of the original school buildings dating back to the Victorian era. The paving beneath the canopy is a combination of resin bound gravel and stone.
Other Schools Projects
Creating a new welcoming stone arched entrance with cast iron gates from the North Front, Selangor Court, a gift of the Sultan of Selangor, reflects the deep and long lasting connection between the Sultanate of Selangor in Malaysia and Wellington College.
The architecture is sympathetic to the Victorian style of the existing buildings, but also reflects the Asian culture brought to Wellington College through its connection with Selangor and Malaysia. A cast iron staircase with ornate treads leads to the Dining Room.
Thornton-Firkin provided Employer’s Agent and Quantity Surveying services on the project.
