Recent schemes for Simons include:
£50m mixed use town centre development within the Roman Town of Durnovaria (Dorchester); this scheme comprises major national retailers, hotel, apartments and the new offices for WDDC and a Library/Adult Education Centre for Dorset County Council. Thornton-Firkin are required to manage the significant archaeological works within the overall programme and budget.
120,000 sq ft retail park on the outskirts of Haverfordwest in South Wales with national retailers Homebase, Wickes and Pets at Home as the key tenants. The scheme incorporated an impressive timber retaining wall structure together with ecological issues of relocating badger routes and reed beds.
93 bedroom Dakota hotel and 45,000 sq ft Innovate Offices at Sherwood Park Nottingham. This was a turnkey development incorporating all fixed furniture including bathroom pods, wardrobes and even the beds; it was the first of the new Dakota brand and Thornton-Firkin assisted with the development of the Hotel brief.
150,000 sq ft town centre leisure development in Ipswich incorporating the first ever Virgin Cinema opened by Richard Branson and a bespoke McDonald's unit, together with many restaurants and a night club.
