Thornton-Firkin LLP have worked with Capital Shopping Centres as Quantity Surveyors since the early 1970’s and successfully delivered new shopping centres at The Potteries in Hanley, Trinity Walk in Wakefield and Eldon Square in Newcastle. The Newcastle office have since worked continuously with Capital Shopping at Eldon Square and on the purchase of the MetroCentre in Gateshead have carried out numerous projects throughout the Centre.

Thornton-Firkin LLP initially set up their Newcastle office to provide on-site quantity surveying services for the construction of Eldon Square Shopping Centre in Newcastle and have continuously worked with Capital Shopping throughout the intervening period. Including many tenancy extensions/alterations we have provided Quantity Surveying Services on over 150 projects in the Centre with the latest project, a £38m scheme comprising a new external bus station, formation of the new St Georges Mall and additional retail and food outlet space around Old Eldon Square.

Since Capital Shopping Centres purchase of the MetroCentre, Gateshead from The Church Commissioners in 1995, Thornton-Firkin LLP have also provided Quantity Surveying Services within the Centre, mostly tenancy related alterations and extensions. The MetroCentre remains the largest shopping and leisure centre in Europe.
